TELECOM OPEN ARCHITECTURE FOR MISSION-CRITICAL CONTROL NETWORKS

Pullnet has designed a service-transparent architecture that provides a straightforward solution to mission-critical applications in Operational networks and is able to fulfil with high reliability the most demanding services for markets as Power Utilities, Railways, Gas, Oil...

This architecture is formed just by two Layers: an Optical Layer that facilitates transmission and transparent transport over optical infrastructure; and a Service Layer – based on the latest Ethernet generation – that provides Ethernet LAN and WAN service; emulated circuits; and TDM transport service for legacy technologies to be easily integrated over the optical plane if required.

In contrast to complex as well as expensive to operate and maintain classical multilayer solutions, often built at present on TDM circuit-oriented (as PDH, SDH/SONET) and MPLS-based transport, the simplicity of our architecture permits to reduce the number of technologies needed to reliably implement the different types of services required in Operational networks, thus allowing the obsolescence problem and maintenance costs to be significantly reduced.

As result, Pullnet's solution paves the way to a new evolutionary scenario with increased functionality and lower cost.

ADVANCED TOOLS FOR AUTOMATED SUBSTATION DESIGN

Single-function electronic devices – not to mention former electromechanical relays – have turned into multifunctional Intelligent Electronic Devices (IED’s) that can interact, both at local and at remote levels, through modern communication schemes, allowing the number of systems that need to be installed in the Substation Automation System (SAS) to be highly reduced.

As result, substations are being transformed from hardwired configurations to networked platforms, where it is possible to combine the requirements of the IEC 61850 standard with traditional protection, control and measurement.

The capital improvements achieved in the field of Substation Automation by this means have made possible to pave the way to a new approach to Substation Design.
